Elliptical Lover I had hoped this would be equivilant to a gym type elliptical, so I guess that's where the problem begins. :-) The stride when trying to work out at a fast pace with higher resistance is very jolting. It works okay for light workouts, but still isn't as good as gym quality equipment as far as the ease of stride is concerned. Because I have knee and back issues, the stride really has an impact on whether I have any pain in those areas after a workout. When I use the gym equipment (like a Precor) I never experience any pain in those areas regardless of intensity or resistance. My husband doesn't have any physical ailments and is very fit, but doesn't like the roughness of the ride with this piece of equipment either.

Over weight, Ok I weigh a little over 300 pounds and my weight was a major consideration in selecting a machine. I have had no problems with the 460 elliptical feeling as if it were going to tip over. The machine is constructed from heavy material so where you put it it stays. The variable stride operation is so smooth and easy on the knees and ankles. Transversing from short, walking strides to longer, running strides is as natural as simply changing your stride the 460 moves right along with you effortlessly with nothing physically to change on the machine. The workout computer is nice with a large display, however, the buttons can be somewhat cumbersome to operate while you are actually running. The weighted wheel has a nice balanced feel to it and the drag is smooth and applies just the right amount of resistance per step. One last comment, I use my 460 in a one bedroom apartment with very little space. Like me, if you have to consider space the 460 is a perfect candidate.......

Jeremy the Buddha Belly My wife and I previously owned a Pro form that was very big, very cumbersome, and very inefficient; we'll never buy from that company again.

Schwinn obviously has a rep that preceeds it, so we started checking them out in the store. My biggest complaint about our last elliptical was that it said it could support up to 300 lbs but it could barely handle my wife's weight; and I felt like it was gonna collapse under my weight. As for the Schwinn, I have never had a piece of home gym equipment that felt SO STURDY. I am not a light guy at 242 lbs, but when I stepped on the elliptical for the first time, I felt that I could defitely go all out on this machine and it would hold up.

Been working out on it for about a week now and it performs beautifully. I love the variable stride that it allows for--great for interval training. I love my new 460!!!

Skeep Great machine. Wife bought it for her and never used it. I combined use 3x a week with a low calorie diet and my diabetic meds. Lost 20 extra pounds on a muscular frame within 5 weeks. Use it regularly to provide conditioning for Surfing and Mountain bike riding. Great product.

Fitness fanatic I was part of the group that tested this product at Nautilus/Schwinn headquarters. It feels terrific and lets me take an almost infinite number of long and short strides, and increase resistance levels, so every workout can be different.

BobT After reading any review and article I could find I bought this Elliptical. The reviews were right on target. I had the elliptical up in a hour. Myself, wife and 2 older daughters have been using it and there have been no complaints. It's easy to use and quiet. It is very sturdy and doesn't take up much space. The machine has a wide range of difficulty settings, so you can by using the touch screen set it for as hard or easy as you would like(takes seconds to change). I searched for a year and found the best deal including a service contract was here.

Matthew and Layla the Newlyweds We were very sceptical to buy an eliptical because of all the reviews we read. We were first inclined to purchase an eliptical under $800, but after reading the reviews for various one's, it became very obvious to us that we needed to spend more money to get a quality machine. The directions to put it together were very easy. My fiance and I put it together in a couple hours (including breaks)! Everything was labeled perfectly! The eliptical has been one of the best purchases we have made in a LONG time!!

CateK It does take a couple hours to assemble and two people make it easier. It's got a good stride length, it's pretty sturdy (v minor wobble) on a carpeted floor. I find the resistances to be slightly lower than the gym ones but I work up a sweat. I wish it had an incline, that's the only drawback. It can get harder and harder via resistance but does not offer the option of a "hill" feeling with a lower resistance.

Mom of 3, trying to get fit I was looking for a way to lose some weight and keep my heart healthy, but being a mom of 3 small kids, it's hard to get motivated to jog or go to a gym. I bought this elliptical so I would have no excuses. Rain or shine, I can hop on for 10 minutes while my kids are playing or watching t.v.I tried out several different models in Dick's and at [...]. I found that ellipticals that had a larger (fixed) stride length tended to put more stress on my knee (damaged from using a Stairmaster in the 90's). The variable stride length and design of this machine are easier on my knee and I don't get numbness in my feet like I did on the machines at the gym.It is quite heavy. Silver service delivery was a wonderful bonus. The guys delivered it to the room where I wanted it. I needed my husband's help to unpack the parts, but I put it together by myself. Assembly was very straight forward. All the parts are clearly labeled and all tools needed are included.I've been using it for a week without any issues. Operation is virtually silent and movement is smooth. Since I am an exercise novice, I can not say whether this would be the right machine for a hardcore exercise junky, but it's perfect for my needs.
